Virtual reality gaming is coming of age and Sony has sparked much needed impetus with the release of psvr. Sony has invested heavily in virtual reality gaming with the release of its PSVR technology and and a large number of big budget games. The price is very competitive at £349.99 compared to rivals HTC Vive and Oculus rift but the experience is no less short changed. Sony has invested heavily in games and software for the device and so there is plenty to go at with titles like “Robinson the journey” , “Eve Valkyrie”, “Batman Arkham VR”, “Battlezone”, “RIGS Mechanized Combat League” and plenty more. Sony also provides many freebies to keep you entertained for weeks such as the excellent “Playroom VR- multiple games”, “INVASION- movie”, “Alumette – movie”, “SuperHyperCube demo”, “Tumble VR – demo” and the excellent space sim
“Call of Duty Jackal Assault VR experience” plus if you own “Star wars – Battlefront” there is a free VR mission available where you get to fly a X-Wing in battle for about 20 minutes which really sells the VR experience on its own. You can also use the device on any of your existing games, software or movies and get a virtual movie size screen to play them on.
The PSVR simply plugs into the back of the PS4 or PS4 Pro console via the bundled control box, with the only other requirement being a PlayStation Camera and optionally Sony’s move controllers enhancing the virtual experience.
A Sony ps camera will set you back £39.99 oh and a little known secret for the more technically able PC users …….. “the PSVR can easily be used on a PC” sshhhh.
